As we head into the summer months I find myself working in my yard around my house. Once spring and summer comes around my wife and I spend countless hours trying to make our yard the envy of the neighborhood. Besides mowing the lawn, planting gardens, weeding the flower beds and pruning the bushes, there always seems to be one thing we can not get rid of…Ants.

Every year we have ant nests all over the yard, which tends to brown our grass and leave my wife and I very aggravated. This year we were determined to find a solution to the problem. Once spring came around we started to research the many ways to get rid of these pests for good. We researched all kinds of chemicals and tricks to get rid of the ants, but due to the size of our yard, these remedies seemed to get real expensive fast.

My wife finally came across an article, which suggested placing used coffee grounds on top of the ant’s nests to get rid of the ants. Every morning since discovering this tip I find myself in the backyard dumping our used grounds in various locations before I head off to work. Believe it or not, this tip actually works. My wife and I have definitely noticed a decrease in the amount of ant nests in our yard. Before the treatment we had anywhere from fifteen to twenty ant nests through out the yard. Now we only have three. My wife and I were completely shocked to see how well this remedy actually works. From now on, our used coffee grounds will be put to good use in the battle against those pesky ants.
