Simply put I see this as a great stepping stone machine. The price is perfect (if I were to buy one now as I received this as a gift). If you like espresso..I would recommend skipping the steam-driven and going with a machine like this.
I have only made doubles. Usually I will make two before work and the speed of heating the boiler is excellent (having caused a small explosion wi ... read more

We absolutely love this coffee maker and I have so much fun using it! Every morning I get up a little early just to make a couple of drinks. He drinks soy milk cappuccinos and I like to froth up milk and make a chai. When I'm working from home I love my double espresso with a touch of honey. I've had no trouble with the flavor or creme in the espresso. I'm considering another for my office. ... read more

This is a good choice for those seeking an inexpensive espresso machine. The construction is rather flimsy and the portafilter is small, but it has a real 15 pump system and it produces a satisfying amount of crema. ... read more

This machine makes great espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes. There is some basic espresso making knowledge that you have to know when operating, but wince you know that its super easy to use. I would highly recommend the machine for beginner espresso connoisseurs. ... read more

I bought this machine 2 years ago and this thing works great for the price.
My drinkof choice is the carmel machiato and I estimate that I have been the household barista of over 2,000 shots using this Ec702.
I am going to buy another one. I would say that this thing would probably still be working properly but I neglected to descale the unit, and now have lime build up which has restricted the ... read more

Refurbished unit had several minor cosmetic imperfections. It was complete (except for double wall filter) and functioned perfectly. I use an Espro 58mm convex calibrated tamper as I moved up from Breville double walled filter products where tamping pressure doesn't matter. The espresso tasted better than with Breville, presumably due to more even extraction due to the wider filter. Baby seems ... read more

Overall, a well built upgrade to my first espresso machine, a Mr. Coffee ECMP50. If you make the transition from a pressurized, small diameter portafilter to that of a 58mm, commercial non-pressurized unit, be prepared to work for a good shot initially. After you get an idea for how the tamp pressure ought to feel and you dial in your grind size, this is a fantastic starter or initial upgrade fr ... read more

Just a little background: I've been into espresso for a little over three years now. I've owned the Rancilio Silvia, Gaggia Classic, Pasquini Livia 90, and the list goes on. This machine was my first purchase, for $80 used on ebay. Compared to all the other machines I own and have used, this pulls the best shots hand down. I don't know why, but I could use the same exact beans / grinder and ge ... read more

We bought this machine in the Spring of 2008. It is extremely durable. While it certainly isn't smart, I have used and abused this machine. I use it every morning. It has never been descaled. I only use tap water and I have accidentally left it on all day several times.
Using the machine does take some expiramentation. I have to use very finely ground coffee, such as pre-ground Lavazza to get ... read more
