Braun’s MultiServe line of machines is their exploration into finding a balance between single serve and filter coffee. In exploring that intriguing niche, the Braun KF9170SI MultiServe offers a smart 10 cup coffee maker with the tools to brew coffee that has the approval of the SCA and ECBC. That approval wins our confidence from the start—it's a mark of quality coffee that manages to meet the high standards of the coffee community, and we're certainly pleased with the results.
All of the MultiServe coffee makers can brew seven different drink sizes ranging from 5 ounces to 10 cups. By turning the dial, you can select the amount of coffee you want to brew, and the touch screen allows you to pick among light, gold, bold and iced coffee. The ExactBrew Technology inside of the KF1970SI delivers the right amount of water depending on your chosen coffee size, and the SensorTemp Water System keeps your water within the Specialty Coffee Association’s standards at 197-204°F when brewing to deliver a hotter coffee, faster. The KF1970SI also features a hot water option that sends water through a separate line with the choice of four different temperatures.
You have the choice of brewing into a smaller cup or mug by flipping down a tray. When brewing into a smaller cup, the tray allows for the cup to be closer to the brewing coffee, which means it loses less heat as it pours. The premium MultiServe machines have a freshness indicator next to their digital clocks, which let you know if your carafe of coffee is still fresh or not. The removable water tank can hold 50 oz of water and has little measurements on the side to show how much water is needed for each coffee size. The KF1970SI has an auto-on feature so you’re coffee can brew at a select time everyday, and the warming plate will keep your coffee warm for up to two hours. If you’re looking for a more basic option, the MultiServe line has two machines without the hot water option and freshness indicator, the KF9050BK and the KF9070SI.
