J Martinez Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Fair Trade Organic Coffee is grown in Yirgacheffe, a small region within Sidamo Ethiopia that produces a distinctly flavored coffee considered the best in the country due to the soil composition and moisture. The handpicked beans of the J Martinez Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee are processed using the “wet” method which gives it a clean winey or floral flavor with slightly higher acidity. Possessing fruity undertones and notes of honey and orange this fragrant coffee has a distinctive citrusy aroma.
Coffee is indigenous to Ethiopia and it is thought to have originated in the Kaffa province, from whence coffee may have taken its name. Ethiopia produces a number of distinctive coffees, and for a long time it was the coffees from Harrar which held pride of place. The introduction of wet-processing in the early 1970's allowed the coffees of the Yirgacheffe region in southwestern Ethiopia to rise to the forefront. This fragrant fair trade coffee has a distinctive citrusy aroma which is characteristic of a fine Yirgacheffe coffee. It is a lively coffee with a distinctive, interesting profile and a good round body.
The J Martinez Ethiopian Yirgacheffe whole bean coffee is double certified, both Fair Trade and Organic and comes in 1 lb. bags packaged in a gift box and is available in a dark roast.
