Owning the JURA E8
The JURA E8 is a super-automatic espresso machine capable of brewing espresso, ristretto and long coffee, and steaming for a cappuccino, latte macchiato or flat white. We really enjoy flat whites here at the office, so we were happy to find them as a pre-programmed option. Plus, stand alone milk foam and hot water options can be programmed to produce a desired amount of water or frothed milk for making cocoas or tea lattes. Out of the box, the E8 impresses with its mirror-finish accents. JURA’s Aroma G3 grinder is a nice addition to the E8, making for quiet, consistent grinding with higher efficiency. For a more full-bodied espresso and decidedly thicker crema, the E8 uses JURA’s Pulse Extraction Process, to fire pulses of water through the grounds to get the most out of extraction. JURA’s Fine Foam Frother allows you to adjust milk density with a quick twist of a dial before, or during, brewing. For us at the office, this is critical and makes the difference between a latte macchiato and a cappuccino incredibly clear.
The E8 is also incredibly easy to use; cycle through options on the color LCD display using the intuitive dial, and select a drink to personalize or brew. The E8 is as simple to keep clean as it is to brew with, especially with the Clearyl Smart water filter installed in the 1.8 L reservoir to ensure great tasting coffee and reduce the need for descaling. As on all JURA machines, the cleaning cycles are completely automated, and a warning pops up on the screen to let you know it’s time for a little maintenance. All you have to do is add the designated cleaner and press start and the E8 cleans its own brew group, milk system or descales the boiler system. If the E8 sounds great, but you’re looking for higher capacities for a small office or home entertaining, take a look at its big brother machine the WE8; or, for a simpler design, the E6.
