Ready to brew in just 10 minutes, the Lelit Kate brews excellent espresso thanks to the PID-regulated boiler and automatic pre-infusion. But the visually intuitive OLED PID controller does so much more than precisely control temperature at the group head—it makes adjusting brew, hot water, and steam temperatures; programming extraction and grind times; and controlling just about every other aspect of the brewing process as simple as pressing a few buttons. It even gives visual cues to remind you to fill the water reservoir or run routine cleaning programs.
When it comes to grinding, the built-in 38mm conical burr grinder delivers pillowy grounds in one of two pre-programmed doses to your portafilter with a simple press of the grinding plate.
Top it all off with a 3-way solenoid valve that gives you dry, knockable pucks; a high-clearance group head that fits even large, American-style mugs; and a reserve mode that prevents interruptions to brewing due to lack of water; wrap it all up in a brushed stainless steel exterior that looks great and is easy to maintain and you’ve got an espresso machine that you’ll be thrilled to use every day.

And the Kate does brew excellent espresso. The stepless micrometric grind adjustments and precisely-adjustable brew temperatures mean you brew any roast properly.
The finish quality of this machine is impressive too—the illuminated operational buttons are a pleasure to push and the full-stainless-steel drip tray matches the rest of the brushed steel, making the Kate feel cohesive, like it’s a single unit designed for a single purpose (which it is). The Kate’s compatibility with LELIT58 accessories make it highly upgradable too—from precision filter baskets to quality tampers and even bottomless portafilters and wooden handle sets, the Kate you take out of the box is just the beginning.
Finally, at just over 13” wide, the Kate is perfect for countertops where space is at a premium—not something you can say about most machine and grinder pairings.
The Kate’s visually intuitive OLED PID controller is known as the Lelit Control Center, or LCC. This easy-to-navigate interface allows precise temperature control for brew water and steam. It also lets you program brew times, grind times, standby times, toggle the automatic pre-infusion and even gives reminds you to fill the water reservoir and for routine cleaning.
The 38mm conical burr grinder features micrometric stepless adjustment and has programmable grind times for both single and double shots, easily accessible through the LCC menu. The 300 gram bean hopper holds about a half a pound of coffee at a time.
Prior to brewing, the Kate gently wets the puck to soak the grounds, resulting in a better extraction and reducing the chances of channeling. This feature can be turned off via the LCC. The retro-style manometer displays the actual brew pressure at the group head during extractions so you can pinpoint any mishaps with your puck preparation.
The Kate finishes what it starts, reserving enough water to finish a brew cycle at all times. So, if you start brewing without quite enough water in the tank, the reserve mode has you covered. Spent pucks are easily discarded after brewing thanks to the 3-way solenoid valve.
